In August of 2022, Missoula Municipal Court implemented Traffic Court, a program intended to reduce the rates of driving without a license and address the legal circumstances that might lead to suspensions of those privileges. This program is entirely voluntary, with defendants who opt in to the program working with the team to identify current barriers to reinstatement both in Missoula as well as across Montana and nationally. The road to reinstatement can be complicated, and the Traffic Court Team works with defendants to negotiate payment plans, navigate court and MVD processes, and complete program requirements in order to restore their ability to legally drive.
