Missoula's Unique Community Identity

Posted on July 8, 2014 at 2:56 PM by Casey Wilson

Urban land expert, Ed McMahan, spoke about the value of a strong unique community identity at the Our Missoula kickoff meeting. What do you think is Missoula’s identity? And how could or should it be enhanced?

Ed gave a great talk!! I love Missoula's identity around the river. River cities all have lots of water activity and events. It would be great to see the bike trail extended to Reserve Street along the water, as far as possible, especially from Russell Street bridge to Reserve at Mullen.

I can't help myself. Thinking about rivers and Missoula I am stuck on Norman Maclean's memorable words from A River Runs Through It “Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”
