City Attorney

Welcome to the Missoula City Attorney's webpage. The City Attorney's Office consists of eight attorneys and nine professional staff members who work hard to provide a wide array of legal services to City government.

We hope you find this website informative, and if you have any questions about the City Attorney's Office, please feel free to contact us.

The City Attorney's Office is legal counsel for the City of Missoula and serves as legal adviser to the Mayor, City Council, Boards and Commissions, staff, and the Missoula Housing Authority. The office is also responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor state and ordinance violations committed within the city limits.

The civil/administrative legal work our office performs includes responsibility for defending the City in legal proceedings as well as providing legal advice to the Mayor, City Council, City management and all City departments with respect to contracts, ordinances and other matters.

Our office also performs prosecution services for the City and is responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor criminal offenses filed in Missoula Municipal Court. City prosecutors strive to fairly, efficiently and justly prosecute misdemeanor offenders issued citations and, to a limited extent, counsel and assist victims of crime, especially victims of domestic violence, in an effort to make the City of Missoula a safer community.
