Do I qualify for a low income discount on my utility bill and how much is the discount?

Assistance programs are available to our water and wastewater customers who may need help paying these utility bills.

Eligibility:  The utility assistance program is offered through the state’s Dept. of Public Health and Human Services and administered by Missoula's Human Resource Council (HRC). Information is available at https://dphhs.mt.gov/hcsd/energyassistance/ for assistance with both water and wastewater charges. People who qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) may also qualify for the Low Income Home Water/Wastewater Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to pay a portion of an eligible household's water and wastewater charges, help avoid shutoffs, and help support household water system reconnections related to non-payment.

Discount:  Eligible LIEAP utility customers will receive a $7.00 reduction in their monthly water portion of their utility bill. The discounts apply only to services provided during the current billing period and does not cover overdue balances from prior billing periods. LIHWAP discounts are variable for each utility customer for their water and/or wastewater charges.
