Milling and Paving Projects

All project dates and times are weather dependent and may change at any time. Call Missoula Streets Division at 552-6360 with questions.

Higgins Ave.—Broadway to Railroad St.

  • Milling to begin Monday, April 6, 2020, at 7 a.m.
  • Paving will begin as soon as possible after milling work is completed.
  • No parking during work hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vehicles parked in the area during this time will be towed.
  • Watch for temporary detours. Please use alternate routes when possible.
  • After paving is completed, lane marker tabs will be installed to delineate driving and turning lanes. Lanes lines will be painted once temperatures are warm enough, which is generally 55 degrees and above.
  • The new asphalt will be chip sealed in late July or early August to further protect it from moisture, therefore extending the life of the asphalt.
  • All striping, including striped crosswalks, green bike lanes, and other street markings, will be completed once the chips are swept up.
  • Permanent, long-life pavement markings will be installed during Summer 2021. The chip seal must "cure" for at least 6 months before the permanent marking material can be installed.
