Jr. Playmakers Youth Sports

Jr. Playmakers offer a variety of youth sport leagues for the greater Missoula area.

Basketball  •  November 4 - February 26

Boys and girls in grades 2-5 will hit the court running for another great season of Jr. Playmakers Basketball. We don’t keep score, but we have a ton of fun with an emphasis on FUN, FAIR PLAY, and GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. Youth will learn basic basketball skills from volunteer coaches, and use those skills on the court. Games are 5-a-side with team max at 10 players.

Coaches needed! If you are a parent/coach with basketball experience and would like to volunteer, please call Ryan Yearous at 552-6266. Parks and Recreation will form teams. Coaches may not form or submit teams. However, they may request to coach a team on which their child/relative plays. Mandatory coaches meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27, 6pm at Currents.

Flag Football

Missoula’s youth hit the gridiron running for another season of youth flag football. We have a ton of fun in these non-competitive games with an emphasis in FUN, FAIR PLAY & GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. Youth learn the basics of football from volunteer coaches and use those skills on the playing field.

Jr. Playmakers is for boys and girls of all abilities where equal playing time and equal participation is expected and encouraged. Flag football is a great example of a skill sport requiring agility, strategy, team play as well as bone and strength development, according to UM health and Human Performance professor Dr. Steven Gaskill. Participants get their daily 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity as recommended by the Let’s Move Missoula initiative and the NFL’s Play 60 campaign.

The Fall 2016 season has already started, please join us next fall! Watch for registration information in the Summer, 2017 Recreation Guide.

Soccer League

We encourage safety, fun, good sportsmanship, fair play, and equal playing opportunity for all participants. Jr. Playmakers will learn the basics of the sport from volunteer coaches. Two weeks of practice start the season, followed by five weeks of games, and ending with a fun Missoula Pumpkin Cup end-of-season event. Practices are on Tuesdays, and games are on Thursdays evenings. The Fall 2016 league has already started, please join us next fall!
